OPINION
HOLMAN, Justice.
Appellant Charles Eugene Clark was charged with capital murder for shooting and killing a convenience store clerk during a robbery. The jury found Appellant guilty, and he was automatically sentenced to life in prison because the State had not sought the *652death penalty.
