The question here presented concerns the propriety of the award of allowances to counsel for various parties to proceedings under section 145-a of the Surrogate’s Court Act, for the determination of the validity and effect of an attempted election by a surviving spouse to take in contravention of the terms of a will, and under subdivisions 2 and 8 of section 18 of the Decedent *393Estate Law for an adjudication of the effect of the validation of the elective right on the remaining testamentary directions.
