The defendant, Aneudi Nieves, appeals from the judgments of conviction, following a jury trial, of two counts of robbery in the first degree in violation of General Statutes §§ 53a-134 (a) (4) and 53a-8 (a) and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree in violation of General Statutes §§ 53a-134 (a) (4) and 53a-48 (a).1 On appeal, the defendant claims that the court violated his rights under the sixth amendment to the United States constitution2 by (1) allowing a witness to invoke his fifth amendment right not to testify through the representation of…
