In a suit by a longshoreman against a shipowner alleging actionable negligence, the district court granted judgment for the defendant and plaintiff appeals. We reverse and remand for further proceedings.

Plaintiff, James R. Gill, brought this action under the Longshoremen’s and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, 33 U.S.C. §§ 901-950, as amended (1972) to recover damages for an injury to his back suffered as a result of an accident on April 12, 1977.
