This case involves the issues of the claimed federal constitutional rights of Peter Karmanos III and his father, Peter Karmanos Jr., and whether, if these rights exist, they were violated by defendants National Collegiate Athletic Association (“NCAA”), the Regents of the University of Michigan, Harold Shapiro, President of University of Michigan, and Don Canham, Athletic Director of University of Michigan, (“University defendants”), when Karmanos III was determined ineligible to play intercollegiate hockey.
