This is a suit for infringement of the first claim of letters patent No. 156,852, dated October 27, 1874, and issued to Smith Hyatt and John W. Hyatt for an “improvement in manufacturing solidified collodion.” The claim referred to is as follows: “(1) The process h'efein described'of manufacturing solidified Collodion by mixing pyro-xyline with a latent liquid solvent, which becomes active only upon the application of heat,-as and for the purposes set forth.” Upon the construction of this claim rests the determination of the case.
