DUFF, J.
Neil E. Beachem appeals his convictions for robbery and unlawful display of a firearm while committing a felony. The crimes in question were committed on July 16, 1982, and a warrant for appellant’s arrest was issued on July 19, 1982. It was not until January, 1988, over five years later, that the appellant was *127brought to trial.
