Alonzo Hampton brought suit in the city court of Macon against the Cherokee Brick Company, a corporation, for $5,000 damages on account of the loss of his left hand and other injuries alleged to have been caused by the explosion of a muzzle-loading shotgun which he was instructed by the defendant’s superintendent to discharge into one of the brick-kilns of its plant. The discharge of the gun into the kilns was for the purpose of expelling accumulations of soot from the kiln.
