This case arises from a class action lawsuit brought by Richard R. Richard (“Richard”), on behalf of himself and a putative class consisting of parties who allegedly suffered damages from inherently defective polybutylene (“PB”) plumbing systems installed in their homes. Richard alleges that Hoechst Celanese Chemical Group, Hoechst Celanese Corporation (collectively “Hoechst”), Shell Oil Company (“Shell”), and E.I.
