Nathaniel Richmond and his wife, Stephanie Richmond, brought this action against Nicholas Higgins, d/b/a/ Nicholas G. Higgins & Associates (Higgins), a debt collection agency, wholly owned by Nicholas Higgins. Richmond alleged that Higgins violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) by misstating, in communications with Richmond’s attorney, the amount Richmond owed for treatment he received at Barnes Jewish Hospital (BJH).
