OPINION OF THE COURT

WERNER, Judge:

Contrary to his pleas, the appellant was convicted by a military judge sitting as a general court-martial of attempting “to steal $1192.00, more or less, in United States currency, military property of the United States” and two specifications involving false claims against the United States, in violation of Articles 80 and 132, Uniform Code of Military Justice [hereinafter UCMJ], 10 U.S.C. §§ 880 and 932 (1982). The judge sentenced appellant to a bad-conduct discharge and reduction to Private El. The convening authority approved the sentence.
