An act of the legislature, approved March 23d, 1866 (P. L. of 1866 p. 640), created the Camden Horse Railroad Company, with a capital stock of $50,000, and the privilege of increasing the same to $100,000. The company was, by that act, empowered to construct, use and maintain a railroad over certain streets in Camden, the track to be of the width of the wagon track then established by law, and to be laid level with the surface of the streets and in conformity with the grades then or thereafter established.
