The plaintiffs are engaged in importing into this country for sale raw materials to be used in the manufacture of woolen fabrics, and the defendants are-custom house brokers who for some years prior to October, 1890, had been employed by the plaintiffs to attend to the entering and passing of the plaintiffs’ goods through the custom house at this port, and the advancing and payment .for plaintiffs’' account of all' moneys necessary to pay the duties on such merchandise.
