This is a civil rights action that highlights the interplay between state and federal law following the suppression of evidence in a state criminal prosecution that results in the dismissal of charges. Plaintiff Tajin Sarin was stopped for a minor traffic violation that led to his arrest and prosecution for DUI. After a state judge ruled that the traffic stop was illegal, the Commonwealth withdrew all claims against the driver.
