This suit was brought by the appellant against the appellee on the 12th of April, 1902, for the wrongful conversion of certain bales of cotton ; and for damages arising from the negligent conduct of the appellee, in performing its contract, as set forth in the bills of lading, one of which is filed with the pleadings.
