Following a jury trial, defendant, Charles Warner, was convicted of murder and sentenced to 200 to 500 years’ imprisonment. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1977, ch. 38, pars. 9-l(a)(l), 1005-8-l(b)(l), 1005-8-1(c)(1).)
