MILLER, Justice:

These appeals are brought by the defendants in three civil actions that were consolidated for trial in the Circuit Court of Monon-galia County. The plaintiffs are the administrator of the estate of Jennifer Wehner, who was killed when she was struck on a public sidewalk by a runaway pizza delivery car, and Nicole Fisher and Jessica Landau, who were injured in the same accident.
