COOK, Circuit Judge.

Plaintiff Joe Allen, an officer discharged from the Jackson, Tennessee police department for violating the city’s drug-free workplace policy, appeals the district court’s grant of summary judgment to the City and its Mayor on his due-process, defamation, and contract claims. Allen challenges both the timing of the summary-judgment motion and the merits of the court’s adverse judgment. We affirm.
