The case made by the record is as follows: On June 17, 1898, Peter Anderson filed his bill in the chancery court of Quitman county, showing that the land in controversy was sold to the state for taxes on July 4,1867, and that, there having been no purchase or redemption from that sale, it was again sold for taxes on May 10, 1875, under the abatement act of 1875 (Laws 1875, p. 11, c. 2), and that by mesne conveyances he had acquired said tax titles, and praying for a confirmation of his said tax title.
