This remedial contempt proceeding arises out of a judgment dissolving the marriage between defendant and his former wife, which requires him to pay child support. Defendant has been the subject of four previous contempt proceedings for nonpayment of his support obligation. On at least one occasion, while serving a jail sentence for contempt, defendant went on an extended hunger strike.
