These companion appeals arise out of the arbitration of a products liability case in which the arbitrator found that the buyer of a defective three-wheeled motor trike sustained $750,000 in damages resulting from a rollover accident, but was entitled to recover only 25 percent of those damages because of her own conduct. The superior court declined to modify the arbitration award and instead vacated it, concluding that the arbitrator had manifestly disregarded the law of strict liability by reducing the buyer’s damages based on contributory and comparative negligence…
