WISDOM, Circuit Judge:

This is the second time this litigation has come before us. The plaintiffs allege that they were discharged in retaliation for opposing racially discriminatory ^employment practices, in violation of section 704(a) of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 28 U.S.C. *1297§ 2000e-3(a) (1976).1 We reversed an earlier judgment for the defendants because the district court applied an incorrect legal standard. Corley v. Jackson Police Dept., 5 Cir. 1978, 566 F.2d 994. On retrial, the district court held that the plaintiffs had made out a prima facie case of retaliatory firing. It found,…
