The Captured and Abandoned Property Act of March 12th, 1863, under which the claim in this case was made, has been frequently under the consideration of the court. In the several cases decided during this term, and especially iu the case of United States v. Anderson * it has been held to be remedial iu its nature, requiring such a liberal construction as will give effect to the beneficent intention of Congress.
