On March 21, 1982, this court suspended respondent from the practice of law until further order of the court following his conviction on May 16, 1981, on eight counts of mail fraud. In May 1984, respondent filed a petition for reinstatement pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 767 (103 Ill. 2d R. 767). The Administrator then filed a motion to stay the petition and to schedule the hearing required by Supreme Court Rule 761 (103 Ill. 2d R. 761) to determine the discipline appropriate when an attorney has been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude.
