delivered the opinion of the court;

The above appeals, each by the State from an order of the trial court, were consolidated by this Court for disposition. All defendants were represented by counsel and each was separately charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. (Ill. Rev. State. 1969, ch. 95½, par. 11 — 501.) In each, the trial court, on its own motion, and over objection by the State, amended the face of the complaint to charge the offense of reckless driving (Ill.
