¶ 1. This case involves claims for unpaid wages under both the Federal Labor Standards Act (the "Act") and Wisconsin wage law. A jury awarded Shawn Johnson $3,648 in compensation for unpaid wages from her employer for the employer's failure to pay her at the minimum wage rate for a period of time.1 The circuit court denied Johnson's postverdict requests for "liquidated damages" under the Act and for a penalty under a provision in the state wage law.
