This is an original proceeding in certiorari to annul three certain orders or judgments made by the trial court.

The facts are these: On June 15, 1898, at 10 A. M., one Minnie Campbell was upon trial in -the superior court charged with the commission of a felony. Petitioner Overend was called and sworn as a witness, whereupon he refused to answer any questions, upon the ground that his evidence would tend to criminate him.
