I. INTRODUCTION

The defendant seeks an order permitting him to ask the jurors who tried this case in 1997 about possible improper influences that may have affected their verdict and about possible violations of the court’s injunction not to discuss the case except during deliberations. A conviction had resulted in a long prison term. See United States v.
