I. INTRODUCTION

Adrian Sanders sued the State of Alaska and United Airlines, Inc. (UAL) for injuries he suffered when his motorcycle struck a UAL baggage cart train. The baggage train originated from premises subleased to UAL. The state had leased the premises to the Krogstads, who had subleased them to UAL.
