PALMER, J.

The defendant, Victor Torres, was convicted after a jury trial of conspiracy to commit murder in violation of General Statutes §§ 53a-48 (a)1 and 53a-54a (a).2 The trial court rendered judgment sentencing the defendant to a term of imprisonment of fifteen years. The defendant appealed from the judgment of conviction to the Appellate Court, and a divided panel of that court reversed the trial court’s judgment on the ground that the evidence was insufficient to support the jury’s guilty verdict.3 State v.
