On October 1, 1886, the Western Farm Mortgage Company, of Lawrence, a corporation organized and doing business under the laws of Kansas, loaned to Thomas V. Malone and wife $1,000, and accepted as evidence of such indebtedness their real-estate coupon bond for $1,000, payable to the order of *717one W. J. Neill, at tlie Third National Bank in the city of New York, on the'1st day of October, 1891, bearing interest at the rate of 7 per cent, per annum, payable semiannually.
