Petitioners (grandparents) appeal from a judgment denying their petition to be appointed guardians of their grandchildren. Respondent is the father of the three children, who at the time of the hearing were ages 8,10 and 12. The two older children are boys; the youngest is a girl. Grandparents filed the petition for guardianship in April, 1988, one month after their daughter, who was father’s wife and the children’s mother, died in a traffic accident.
