OPINION

NUCHIA, Justice.

Sidney Earl Brashear appeals the denial of pretrial habeas corpus relief.

Facts

A grand jury indicted Brashear for first degree murder, and he pled no contest to manslaughter. The court found him guilty and, about a month later, commenced his jury trial on punishment. The State’s first witness was Deputy Richard Holloman, chief investigator for the Austin County Sheriffs Department. The State rested its case on the first day of trial.
