The defendant in error, Lula Owen, sued the plaintiff in error, the National Council Knights and Ladies of Security, on a benefit certificate issued to her late husband, Edward G. Owen, during his lifetime and payable to her at his death. It was alleged in the petition that this certificate, for a valuable consideration, had been issued on October 13, 1910, in the sum of $3,000, payable to the plaintiff as surviving widow, in the event of the death of the insured, and that Edward G.
