BUTZNER, Circuit Judge:
This appeal arises from the termination of Hertha H. Krotkoff’s position as a tenured professor at Goucher College. 1 Krot-koff sued Goucher, alleging that it violated the tenure provision of her contract. The college asserts that it eliminated Krotkoff’s position and terminated her contract as part of a general retrenchment prompted by severe financial problems.
