HITZ, Associate Justice.

This is an appeal from an order of the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia quashing a writ of habeas corpus and dismissing the petition therefor.

The appellant was convicted in the police court of the District of Columbia of unlawful possession of intoxicating liquor and sentenced to pay a fine of $500, or, in default thereof, to serve 180 days in the district jail, and, the fine not being paid, he was com-, mitted.
