HUDSON, Justice.
Defendant Darrett Crockett was convicted on 8 October 1997 of an offense for which he was required to register as a sex offender and comply with the requirements of the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registration Program. On 28 November 2011, defendant was indicted on one count of failure to register as a sex offender under N.C.G.S. § 14-208.11; this indictment referred to the period between 24 January 2011 and 6 November 2011.
