William Mac Hufford was convicted of six counts of burglary and five counts of theft of property and sentenced to 60 years in prison. His first point on appeal is that his right to a speedy trial as provided in Ark. R. Crim. P. 28.1(b) was violated. Specifically, Mr. Hufford contends the state’s delay in providing a court-ordered mental examination caused his trial to be delayed beyond the one-year time limit.
