ROLPH, Judge:

At his general court-martial before officer and enlisted members conducted on various *529dates in June and September 1997, the appellant was convicted, contrary to his pleas, of making a false official statement, assault consummated by a battery, and assault with intent to commit murder, in violation of Articles 107, 128, and 134, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. §§ 907, 928, and 934. He was sentenced to 10 years confinement, total forfeiture of pay and allowances, reduction to E-1, and a dishonorable discharge. In June 1998, the convening authority approved the sentence…
