In January 1992, the defendant, Barbara Mindham, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 95Vz, pars. ll-501(a)(l), (a)(2) (now 625 ILCS 5/11 — 501(a)(1), (a)(2) (West 1992))), and disobeying a traffic control device (Ill. Rev.
