¶1 After an incident involving his then-deputy coroner, Grant County Coroner Jerry Jasman pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and resigned from office. By statute, Jasman’s conviction prohibited him from holding public office again. RCW 9.92.120. However, the *637new Grant County coroner, Craig Morrison, quickly hired Jasman as chief deputy coroner and chief investigator. In this case, we must decide whether Jasman can hold those positions given that he is prohibited from holding public office.
