KEARSE, Circuit Judge:

Defendant Nancy Peterson appeals from a judgment entered in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York following a jury trial before Charles L. Brieant, Jr., Judge, now Chief Judge, convicting her of possessing a check stolen from the United States mail, knowing it to have been stolen, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1708 (1982). Peterson was sentenced to six-months’ imprisonment; she remains at liberty pending this appeal.
