The plaintiff, Matthew Rumph, had been a teacher in the defendant school district for approximately nine years prior to the instant controversy. It is unquestioned that plaintiff’s professional services had been satisfactory during this period. In the spring of 1965, plaintiff, a tenure teacher, applied for a sabbatical leave from the school district. Plaintiff’s formal application for a sabbatical leave provided;
