State v. Carillo
Supreme Court of Rhode Island
1Opinion of the CourtKelleher, J.
This two-count indictment charges the defendant, John Carillo (Carillo), with the crimes of murder and conspiracy to murder. Both counts arise from the June 22, 1973, stabbing death of Donald Price (Price), which occurred while Price, a state corrections officer, was on duty at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI). Carillo was found guilty on both counts after trial by a Superior Court jury and, on November 30, 1973, was sentenced to life imprison ment on the murder charge and 10 years’ imprisonment on the conspiracy charge. Thereafter, he appealed to this court.
