MEMORANDUM OPINION AND ORDER

GETTLEMAN, District Judge.

The United States has brought a civil forfeiture action against 5443 Suffield Terrace, Skokie, Illinois (“the' Suffield property”) pursuant to 18 U.S.C. § 981(a)(1)(C) and 19 U.S.C. § 1595a(a). The government alleges that Richard Connors (“Connors”), owner of .the Suffield property, paid proceeds traceable to specified unlawful .activity- — the illegal smuggling and sale of Cuban cigars in the U.S. — towards mortgage payments on his home, and that he used his home to conceal the contraband.
