Opinion of the Court

GIERKE, Judge:

A general court-martial composed of officer and enlisted members convicted appellant, contrary to his pleas, of committing indecent acts with his 13-year-old stepdaughter (hereinafter referred to as “M”), on or about May 19, 1990. The approved sentence provides for a bad-conduct discharge and confinement for 2 years. The *43Court of Military Review affirmed the findings but reduced the confinement to 18 months because of prejudicial error during the sentencing proceedings. 34 MJ 1008.
