In 1998, defendants Richard and Cynthia Fodor, policyholders, commenced a legal action against Paul A. Edinger t/a Butler Park Self Storage Inc. and The Stanley Works for injuries sustained by their minor daughter, Louise Fodor, while she had been playing on an automatic security gate located on the Butler Park defendant’s business premises.1 In his answer to the defendant policyholders’ com*543plaint in the underlying tort action, the Butler Park defendant joined the defendant policyholders as additional defendants.
