Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Broome County (Smith, J.), rendered October 9, 1997, upon a verdict convicting defendant of the crimes of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a con*682trolled substance in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and attempted assault in the first degree.
