Sharon Larrimore, as administratrix of the estate of her husband, Luther Shelton Larrimore (“the estate”), sued Springhill Hospitals, Inc., d/b/a Springhill Memorial Hospital (“SMH”), among others, alleging wrongful death resulting, at least in part, from the negligence of SMH’s pharmacist, H. Gregory Weeks. The jury returned a general verdict in favor of the estate for $4 million in punitive damages. We hold that the learned-intermediary doctrine cuts off SMH’s liability for Weeks’s alleged breach of a duty of care. We, therefore, reverse the trial court’s judgment and render a…
