Claimant Nguyen applied for social security disability benefits after injuring his back at work in January, 1993. Following a March, 1995 hearing, an administrative law judge (ALJ) found that although claimant’s severe lumbar and cervical disc-disease prevented him from returning to his vocation of welder-carpenter, he retained the functional capacity for sedentary work and exhibited no significant ex-ertional or non-exertional impairments.
